The SAND Project

The The SAND Project is a group of planners, artists, and policy makers that believe in innovative design as a means to change the world. We believe in the power of collective creativity as a fundamental tool to encourage social change. We are global citizens, consciously aware of the challenges our world poses, and eager to make our ideas come to life. The projects we develop range from products that help entire communities, to marketing campaigns that challenge the status quo. Even if it helps one person, or an entire country, we think it’s worth making. We welcome boldness, thrive on innovation and creativity, and get inspiration from music, experiences, and most of all, people.

SAND Jacket

For The 2014 Geneva International Contest for Graduate Students: Women empowerment, we came up with a line of products that empower women. An environment-friendly product that not only makes women (and men) conscious of the importance of menstrual hygiene especially in disaster situations, but also educates many generations of households with an innovative yet accessible approach. Our project was carefully selected as one of the top ten from over 80 proposals coming from all over the world. Please follow this link for more information on the competition and results. We will engage, educate, communicate, inform, and strengthen women’s roles in disaster situation. Please read below about our acclaimed projects.

SAND Bike

Bicycles have been used for a long time in civilization. Moreover, innovative city and rural planning has included bicycles as a means for empowerment. With this bicycle, we want to empower people through transportation. Its unique design offers a foldable mechanism, enabling the rider to use the bike not only as a vehicle, but also as a micro-level business for the owner. It is equipped with the basic elements the rider needs to manage his/her business. It is a sustainable business model that aims to empower entire communities with reliable transportation, healthy lifestyles, and an optional source of income.
